Ranveli - literally meaning Golden Sand in the local language, the island with its beautiful sandy beaches, the tall palm trees and mirror-like clear water, is a self-contained paradise. One of its most distinguishing features, and also its most beautiful, is the long white beach that stretches away from the island. Like a deliberately constructed road to the edge of the sea, this naturally created stretch of white sand lets you understand the true meaning of “a walk on the beach”.
Located in South Ari Atoll, one of the 20 administrative atolls of the Maldives, Ranveli lies 35km from the airport island. From the airport you travel to Ranveli either by sea plane or helicopter. It takes just half an hour to get to the landing pad from which you would travel to Ranveli on the traditional dhoni.

The journey from the airport to Ranveli is an adventure itself. The aerial view of the Maldives that you catch from the sea plane or the helicopter is breathtaking. Small green islands with their white beaches and surrounding aquamarine lagoons lie on the cobalt blue ocean. Seen from above it makes a picture that you would not want to miss. As you take the dhoni to Ranveli from the helipad, the feeling of the sea breeze on your face, and the sea below you are just as enjoyable.

The experience is a lesson in life itself - the friendly nature of these people, their genuine smiles, the simplicity of their lifestyle and their general contentment with life - is one of the best experiences that you can have in the Maldives.

Fishing, the traditional Maldivian occupation, is an integral part of the Maldives. To have sustained a nation for centuries there surely must be a lot of fish in these seas. You can try your luck at catching some of them by joining the morning and night fishing expeditions that Ranveli arranges for you on a regular basis    

Water sports
The Water Sports Centre in Ranveli offers you the opportunities to make the most of the sea by offering you the chance to take up windsurfing, as a beginner or even a professional. And of course, snorkelling needs to be tried out - even the complete novice would feel comfortable in the calm and clear waters of Ranveli.
Sports - If water sports still leaves you wanting for more activity, try beach volley. Get your own team together from among the guests, the staff would be more than willing to take you up on the offer.

Scuba Diving
Scuba Diving for the complete novice or for the professionals would be an experience at Ranveli. The Ranveli Diving Club with experienced instructors offers the opportunity for you to gain a PADI certificate, from the beginner level to Masters. The Ranveli Diving Club Instructors could lead you to some of the best dive spots - they know every coral and every fish in those sites. You are in good hands all the way.

Though it may be not be comparable to a shopping centre, the island shop has quite a variety ranging from souvenirs, t-shirts, sun creams and a whole range of goods essential for the guest.
